Welcome to the Management Department!
Welcome to the Department of Management at Missouri State University. Let me tell you a few things about our
degree programs and our outstanding faculty.
Options in the management major are offered in five
areas reflecting the diversity of specializations that now exist in the
field. These options include: Administrative Management, International
Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Production/Operations
Management, and Entrepreneurship. A Major in the field of
Entertainment Management and a Masters in Health Administration are also
available to provide opportunities in these rapidly growing areas.
The Department of Management consists of 21 full-time
faculty members, all holding doctoral degrees in their fields. The
Management faculty has accomplished many wonderful things in recent years.
For example, five members have recently been awarded university honors for
teaching or research. Dr. Keith Denton has published over 100 articles and
13 books and has earned the Distinguished Scholar Award. Dr. Mary Coulter
has the distinction of being co-author of the number one selling management
textbook in the world for the last five years. In addition to their
scholarship, Management faculty are student-oriented, well-traveled
internationally, and committed to the quality education of tomorrow’s
business leaders.
We are proud to be one of five departments in the
American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited
College of Business. This accreditation places us among the top 10% of
business schools in the United States that have such total program
accreditation. AACSB accreditation is a widely recognized acknowledgment of
the quality of our programs, our scholarship, and our faculty. Over
900 majors and minors have chosen to pursue programs in the management area
at Missouri State.
Planning, organizing, directing, and controlling, are
activities that will never become obsolete. If you plan to enter
college to prepare for a career in business, are seeking to organize your
future goals and aspirations, are directing your efforts in a focused way,
and wish to control your success, the Management Department at Missouri State may be
the place for you.
